The DVM + CCRT Relationship

We are proud to combine our knowledge in canine rehabilitation with our passion for animals. This allows us to not only support recovery following surgery, but also to improve mobility and quality of life as pets age, as well as help them safely return to daily activities after injury.

Our therapists hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and have undergone extensive additional training to become Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapists (CCRT), equipping them with advanced knowledge in movement science, biomechanics, and progressive rehabilitation.

We operate within a collaborative care model in which the veterinarian establishes the medical diagnosis, precautions, and overall plan of care, while we focus on the rehabilitation component. This allows us to apply our expertise in movement-based rehabilitation, including therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, non-thrust, function-focused manual therapy techniques used as part of a supervised rehabilitation plan, and progressive functional training, while remaining aligned with the patient’s medical needs.

Communication is a central part of this model. We provide consistent updates to our patients’ veterinarians and ensure that any changes in status or concerns are communicated promptly so that medical management remains appropriately directed by the supervising veterinarian.

All rehabilitation services are provided under veterinary referral and general supervision in accordance with Rule §573.14 of the Texas Administrative Code. In order to support this structure, we require documentation establishing a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR), medical diagnosis, and authorization for rehabilitation services.

We strive to make this process as simple and efficient as possible. Below, you will find two options for submitting the required referral documentation: either through a secure online form or via a downloadable PDF.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time with questions or to discuss a patient. We truly value collaboration and appreciate the opportunity to support your patients’ mobility, function, and quality of life.
