We Are Hiring:

Canine Rehabilitation Therapist

We specialize in helping SENIOR DOGS regain their independence & ability to explore Austin with their humans.

Who We Are Looking For…

  •  Do you love dogs and want to build relationships with pet parents?

  • Do you have a track record of staying organized in your professional and personal life?

  • Do you have experience in a business where targets need to be met?

  • Are you able to connect with pet parents and help them make the best decision for their dog?

  • Are you someone who is constantly seeking growth opportunities and does not shy away from constructive feedback?

  • Are you comfortable educating and instructing clients on how to best take care of their injured pup?

  • Are you flexible, open to change and able to prioritize tasks?

If so, you could be the person we are looking for to fill our position of Canine Rehabilitation Therapist who will be providing rehab services to pets & parents around Austin.

 The Role

You will be responsible for providing rehab services for a variety of diagnoses, help clients understand the rehab process, and ensuring the smooth transition for each initial evaluation to a plan of care with the Austin Canine Rehab & Wellness.

Ultimately, your job is to help us grow and be able to provide rehab services to more pets & parents in Central Austin and surrounding areas. You will be an integral part of the business by maintaining the exceptional level of care already being provided and helping the business to grow at the same time.

To be successful in this position you must…

  • Advance your ability to implement our knowledge and skills as physical therapists to canines, with an emphasis on manual therapy and exercise progression and a heavy focus on home exercise programs

  • Develop and/or advance your manual therapy techniques with canines, including a variety of joint mobilization techniques that will help improve outcomes with a patient’s prognosis

  • Understand HOW to appropriately progress a patient’s exercise program instead of simply following a cookie-cutter protocol.

  • Advance your skills on low-stress dog handling and positive reinforcement training so you can effectively get them to do what we need them to do, while keeping yourself and our patients safe

  • Advance your communication skills with clients so you can effectively explain what is going on with their dogs, how you are uniquely positioned to help them, and develop long-lasting relationships that turns them into happy long-term paying clients

  • Understand how we market successfully in the field of canine rehab, with a business that thrives on predictable lead generation with direct-to-consumer marketing instead of non-predictable lead generation such as veterinary referrals

  • Understand how to communicate effectively with each client based on how they were referred to us

  • Understand why we charge more than other clinics and, most importantly, learn how to get clients to be happy and glad that they are paying a higher premium to work with us

  • Learn how to implement a variety of systems that will help optimize the client experience and growth of the business

  • Understand how we track different KPIs and metrics, and how they relate to your job performance

  • All the above, and more as both parties see fit, will be accomplished through continuing education, and regular group meetings and individual training

  • Maintain current standards of business metrics that have allowed Austin Canine Rehab & Wellness to grow to this point – specific numbers used will be discussed during onboarding process, but metrics include, but are not limited to: number of visits, number of new patients, conversion % from evaluation to plan of care, patient visit average, packages sold, completed Plan of care %, conversion % from rehab to wellness, and PT utilization ratio

  • Be responsible for limiting “drop-offs” - Clients who book appointments and then drop off schedule are not good for either parties involved. Because of that, we expect that you will recognize early signs of someone dropping off and actively work on strategies with the Austin Canine Rehab team that will help maintain them on your schedule

  • Be proactive with learning new clinical skills and develop an in-service presentation for Austin Canine Rehab team at least once a quarter

  • Be proactive with growing as a person through personal development and mindset training

  • Understand your role in the overall client experience and how it affects the growth and success of the business

  • Provide a high level of customer service that will cause clients to want to come back frequently (and tell their friends and family all about us)

  • Effectively communicate with clients in a way that allows them to confidently make the right decision regarding their pet’s care

  • Ensure that patients achieve their clinical and lifestyle outcomes (in the time frame you set)

  • Ensure that clients agree to a plan of care that will help them achieve their goals

  • Effectively communicate our core values and mission, including success pyramid and unique value proposition

  • Assist as needed with developing content for blog posts, marketing materials, and monthly newsletters

  • Assist as needed in developing and updating marketing materials, including brochures and newsletters to potential referral sources

  • Ensure that clinical notes are kept up-to-date, accurate, and completed in the agreed time frame needed for the clinic to function effectively

  • Learn and advance your low-stress handling techniques as positive reinforcement training is always to be used with all patients

  • Engage in minimum 2 hours/week of self-development

  • Be a licensed physical therapist certified in canine rehabilitation (candidates currently enrolled in their certification courses will also be considered based on when they would be finishing their coursework). If you are a Veterinarian looking to do rehab, please apply as well.

  • Be flexible with working hours that could include evenings and Saturdays as needed

  • Be punctual with appointments and adhere by the Lombardi Time for working hours

  • Demonstrate a willingness to be held accountable for performance

  • Follows through on commitments living up to verbal and written agreements

  • Demonstrates an ability to quickly and proficiently understand and absorb new information
